Brief idea

This is just a brief idea i have thought up just this moment. My main idea at this moment in time is to go for a groundhog day feel/repetition.

Video starts on a eye. (idea from the TV show LOST)

I would then go onto the character being on the bed whilst his eye opens to then getting up, similar to this clip..

I would have it repeating in a similar way. For example, i would like to go with this idea..

- Wake up, eye shot
- Character gets up of bed, walks towards door
- Character stumbles down the stairs (risk - falling)
- Character staggers towards cupboard, opens cupboard
- (EITHER) Character pulls out a beer, vodka, whiskey (alcohol. Point of view shot)) OR see's that it is empty and gets wallet out and check if got money for some alcohol.
- Character drinks alcohol if has some.
- Character Staggers to front door, after picking up car keys (close up/ Point of view shot)
- Character gets in car then puts head on steering wheel acting drunk/hungover. (as he puts head on steering wheel, get a groundhog/flashback of him waking up again, and doing the same actions again until up to this point, however this time gets further)
- (EITHER) Character drinks alcohol has with him and drives (fake. Risk - looking like drink driving) OR Drives to a small store to buy alcohol, where he gets the alcohol and puts money on counter and walks off. (Point of View Shot) (issue with the second idea is that the shop manager may not allow it and also if character looks/acts drunk the shop keeper may not sell to him.)
- Gets in car with alcohol after store, OR whilst driving looks at alcohol and then again. (get a groundhog/flashback of him waking up again, and doing the same actions again until up to this point, however this time gets further)

Each time he wakes up thinking "ive already done this" he looks more confused on his facial expression.

- Eventually arrives at a park and sits on the swing and swings (point of view shot, established shot, close up etc.)(get a groundhog/flashback of him waking up again, and doing the same actions again until up to this point, however this time gets further)
- Character then staggers into a field, lip syncing, still with a bottle of alcohol in hand. (established shot, point of view shot)
- Character Then falls or lays down in the middle of field lip syncing and drinking, looking into the sky. (point of view shot)

End

So i wanted to go for a repetitive kind of music video, however each time it repeated the character got further and further down the story.

  1. An interesting premis Powis. I believe Craig David did something similar in 7 days.

This will be a hard effect to achieve because continuity is key to this working. You will need photos of every set and actor to ensure that everything stays exactly where it should.

Try some practice footage this week.
